Yes, I said America of America should take care of it’s own first. Before we spend our valuable dollars taking care of the rest of the world. I want to say this before you crawl through your monitor to strangle me. I am not heartless. In fact, the images we’ve all seen on our to of children starving bring me to tears. I cannot fathom a global as progressive as ours yet people are still starving and dying from avoidable illness.

But, it is a reality. 925 million people do not have enough to eat. 6.6 billion in grants, goods, and volunteers. 3.4 billion, including health care, literacy training, development, and relief. So, what’s my point? My point is, we spend a complete lot of money taking care of people around the world. Being a society, we are generous.

I’ve never doubted that. It’s just that every day I listen to politicians pointing fingertips at one another as they play the blame game for our economic crisis. All of the blame in the world isn’t fixing the problem. Today I heard once again that Obama is blamed for the unemployment rate being so high. One man didn’t do this. Our very own irresponsible greed do this.

We are responsible, to some extent. While thinking about this, I kept in mind something from my child years. Looking back, I think my Dad was smarter than all the politicians in office today. But let’s make contact with the reason behind my writing today. Out in the country where I resided as a child, neighbors took care of neighbors.

Families, extended and biological, stepped in when one needed just a little help. Churches provided foods and shelter because of their associates when times got challenging. Looking at the numbers above, it appears that the citizens of these United States remain quite charitable. So, why don’t we stop blaming everyone and do something about the problem. Go through the dollar quantities above.

How much would those dollars go if they were kept in America and used to help keep a family member or a neighbor from the welfare rolls? What makes we providing 1.3 billion dollars in scholarship aid to foreign students when graduates of our own high institutions can’t afford a university education? What makes our religious organizations donating 3.4 billion dollars to provide health care and literacy programs to international countries when our very own kids are on Medicaid and illiterate?

Perhaps I’m preaching to the choir here on HubPages because I’ve fulfilled some incredible, socially responsible people here. I simply cannot understand why those we elect to public office can’t see what we should see. How much cash would go back into restoring our own economy and helping citizens of America if we kept our money in your own boundaries? Could we bring back our reputation in the world because we had taken treatment of our own?

Will we turn into a nation known for letting its own people suffer while we pretend to care about other countries? Are we destined to just keep playing the blame game and change our backs to the pain here on our own earth? Biscuit. Your comment touched my heart and I consider it a real compliment to be stated in the same breathing as Joan of Arc and John Brown. Thank you for your.

I listen to and know very well what you say. There is no question that I’m a dreamer. I’m’ not a genius, nor an accomplished writer. I am simply a person who cannot live in a global world where there is no hope. I believe that every time I express myself, I have the chance to change the thinking of one, one just, person. If that person reaches out, they might change the thinking of one more. It’s like the ripples on a pond.
